A Glimpse of Heaven

Often times in my work at the hospital, I'll get a question from a patient regarding Heaven. Sometimes, people's curiosity is wondering if there is in fact a Heaven, while others wonder what Heaven will be like. We hear stories of people who died and are brought back to life and share about what they experienced during that time. Some have vivid stories about bright lights, peace and seeing passed loved ones. There are others that share that they didn't experience anything.
Knowing that this life is temporal, it's natural for us to have a curiosity about what's next. As believers, our hope is that through the shed blood of Jesus, we have a home being prepared for us even now. But what exactly does that home look like?
In Revelation 7, John is given a glimpse of Heaven. More than the streets of gold, flowing fountains or a beautiful landscape, John sees people, lots and lots of people. John says that these people represented every nation, tribe, people and language. It's a beautiful picture of the things that so often divide here, are done away with in our new home.
This Sunday, we're going to have the opportunity to worship with our brothers and sisters from El Alfarero. We're going to sing songs in English and Spanish, share communion together and talk about the home that we will one day all share together.
I think this Sunday will be a little glimpse of Heaven and I hope that you're able to join us at 9:00 or 10:45 am!

Rise Against Hunger • August 3

Ordination Service for Daniel Karl • August 11
Daniel Karl will be ordained into ministry on August 11 at 4:00 pm at Redemption Community Church. The entire Northside family is invited to attend. Daniel is our resident church planter and served for three years as our Pastor of Student Ministries. Redemption is located at 3171 NC-42 in Clayton.
Backpacks for Knightdale Elementary
Help us collect backpacks for Knightdale Elementary students as they start a new school year. For a complete list of back to school items, click here. Backpacks can be left in the Welcome Lobby. The backpack drive ends August 18.
Panera Bread and Adopt A Block = A Great Opportunity
Looking for ways to transform your community with the love of Christ? The Northside Compassion Project is currently seeking volunteers to help with our Panera partnership in distributing bread to families in need on Sunday afternoons!
Join us in distributing Panera bread to 13 of our adopted families at Shady Acres. Various roles available include preparation and distribution. Preparation of individual bread bags will take place from 3:15 pm-4 pm at Northside and delivery will be from 4:00-4:30 pm at Shady Acres.

Northside Playground Construction
Construction continues on Northside's new playground! The playground is located on the north side of the building (cemetery side) as you enter the church. We're excited about what this addition means for Northside Preschool, Northside Kids, fellowship opportunities and our community groups. Construction is expected to wrap up in August.
