Community Engagement Team
———
We believe we have a unique responsibility of showing and telling the love of Jesus to others. Our outreach is focused on showing up in our community to express Jesus’ love for our neighbors and to some of the most vulnerable communities around us.
Volunteer Roles:
- Adopt-a-Block: These monthly, two-hour gatherings include knocking on doors, providing free groceries for households, picking up trash, playing with children, and having intentional Gospel conversations. Volunteers pick up food and supplies from Raleigh Dream Center on the event day, help with setup, hand out food, encourage, build relationships, and pray with our neighbors at Shady Acres.
- Knightdale Elementary School (KES) & Knightdale High School (KHS) Support: Throughout the year, we have several opportunities to support our local schools including a backpack and coat drive for KES, food for the KHS football team, giving tree for students in need at both schools, and teacher appreciation meals at KES. Volunteers would help with the collection and delivery food or other items to the schools as needed.
- Safe Families: Safe Families for Children hosts children and creates extended family-like support for parents who have nowhere else to turn through a community of devoted volunteers motivated by faith to keep children safe and families together.
- Adopt-a-Highway: One of the ways we at Northside support our community is by adopting First Avenue/Bethlehem Road. Once a quarter we gather volunteers to pick up trash along the road from New Bern Avenue to Old Faison Road. For safety reasons, volunteers must be at least 16 years old. Join the team and help keep our road clean!
- Town of Knightdale (ToK) Events: We love our town and seek to have a presence to support the ToK events. Whether it's the Christmas Parade, Fall on First, the Christmas Tree Lighting, or the Spring Fling, volunteers share the love of Jesus by showing up and representing Northside in our community.
